“Defining himself as a “post-punk plasticien”, Sébastien Pesot manipulates the strings of musical instruments to create compositions which tend towards an organized chaos, oscillating between the figurative and the abstract. On paper or on the screen, these strings evoke the lines of pencil drawings where the virtual displacement of the lines appears as traces made by the artist. By means of close-up shots and skilful juxtapositions, the artist plays with deconstructing and taking out of context in order to enlarge and disassemble them. Pesot’s images acquire a real captivating power, as they can resonate in our visual memory in the same way as the sound of these stringed instruments which inspired “L’anatomie du Bling”.
